DreamWorks has acquired the film rights to ‘Maintenance,’ a humorous comic book series about two janitors who work at an evil genius think tank.
What would your life be like if you were a janitor working in the world’s biggest and most evil mad scientist think tank?
That’s the question Jim Massey and Robbi Rodriguez posed in their Oni Press comic book series Maintenance, and it’s a question that DreamWorks Animation will ask again when they adapt the comic for the big screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dreamworks Animation has acquired the rights to the series after Warner Bros. placed the project in turnaround. Warner Bros. had developed the project with McG (Terminator Salvation) in mind as director and producer. Currently, DreamWorks doesn’t have a director, producer, or writer attached to the project.The premise for Maintenance is definitely intriguing and sounds enjoyable. DreamWorks Animation has put out some quality films in recent years, including Monsters vs. Aliens in 2009 and this year’s Megamind. The studio’s irreverent style seems like it could be a good fit for Maintenance.
