HRD Ministry Joins Hands With UID Authority For Students In India

Through this collaboration

As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed, UIDAI will help keep a record of all students, right from kindergarten to graduation. HRD Minister Kapil Sibal hopes to have the unique identification numbers printed on everything from report cards, merit certificates to transfer certificates. HRD also plans to link education loans and scholarship to the students educational history. This will help employers as well in identifying a students original marklist, and thus his performance through the course of his education.

The ministry will also put in place an institutional mechanism to effectively oversee and monitor the implementation of the UID project and provide logistic and liaison support to the staff and representatives of UIDAI.

Benefits for students

According to Mr. Sibal, this system will help cut down the number of drop outs by tracking the performance of a student and providing necessary guidance wherever required. Also, the ministry believes that with the help of UID, the Mid-Day meal scheme can be implemented in a better fashion. Mid-Day meal scheme provides lunch to students free of cost to all students on all working days. This collaboration also means that only students worthy of a job will get it as the chance of replicating a mark list is minimized.

This move is a huge step forward in India’s education system. Such ideas from the HRD are more than welcome and hopefully this is just the beginning. What do you think about the HRD ministry and UID authority joining hands?

Rich Media and Video Ads Come To India Through Dynamic Video, Networkplay

Competition for Networkplay

Networkplay will not find it easy in the Indian market in spite of having this new array of formats to offer to customers. Komli Media, another advertising firm focusing on the Indian market provides rich media and video ads. Also, Google is always a competitor no matter which market you are talking about.

One question that does come to mind is with all these video or dynamic ads which will engage a viewer, will it reach a point where the viewer will be saturated by it? What do you think?

HRD Ministry Joins Hands With UID Authority For Students In India

HRD has been in the news off late, and mostly for good reasons. Unlike promising and failing to deliver as in the past, the ministry of Human Resources Development came good with the $35 tablet and recently issued a tender for the same. Now in another interesting and thoughtful move, HRD has teamed up with the UID authority to keep track of a student’s movement.

UIDAI, HRD ministry join hands for the children

As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed, UIDAI will help keep a record of all students, right from kindergarten to graduation. World’s Lightest Touchphone – Modu T Is In India Now, Courtesy Micromax

Modu T features a 2.2-inch touch screen, a pre bundled 2GB memory card extensible up to 32 GB and is priced at Rs. 12,000. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Brew operating system. The phone has functionalities and applications for web access and instant messaging, direct links to different social networks, a built in FM radio, GPS, music player and some other features which are quite expected from a (smart) phone of this age.

The most interesting feature of the device is the “fy jackets” that can be used to modufy (read modify) the capability of the handset. Once connected, these “fy” jackets enhance the functionality of the phone so that users can enjoy additional features based on how they want to use their phone. This phone comes with the following two fy jackets:

Camerafy jacket that converts the phone into a camera with a 5 megapixel resolution and LED flash.Sportfy jacket that turns it into an exercise companion and personal trainer.Other plans of Micromax

The idea behind this launch is to capture the so called ‘aspirational’ segment of Indian consumers- the ones who are early adopters of technology and passionate about electronic gadgets. At the launch event, Vikas Jain, the business director of Micromax also hinted at the possibility of foraying into the tablets market. Looking at the track record of Micromax, a company which prides itself for being “Nothing like anything”, it should not come as a surprise. After all, Tablets are the latest buzz in the industry.

Thanks to some trendy handsets backed by powerful features and impressive price tags, Micromax, has earned quite a name in the cell-phones market so far.  Let’s see if it can create a similar buzz in the Tablets market. But that will take some time. For now, let’s focus our attention back to the Modu T. It will be interesting to see how this device fares in the market. The smartphone market is hot at the moment with the launch of some new devices almost on a weekly basis. And all these devices claim to be better than the rest.  Given such a scenario, do you think that Modu T is packed with the juice that would prevent it from going into oblivion?

India is an evolving and growing market in the digital sphere and it is our pleasure to join hands with NetworkPlay to bring what will be best in class conference and exposition

AOL’s Mapquest Comes To India – Our Review

We use the India product and here is our take on the same:

What we liked?

Cross section of maps and local search

The wow factor for us was the fact that once we zoomed in max on a particular location and then used the local search tabs to find restaurants in and around the place it was very effective.

Good intuitive UI

The UI is intuitive though still light of several features and that also makes the map faster to load.

What can improve?

Data Is Weak

The data of restaurants though interesting the other data on bars, petrol pumps etc is weak at best. And its quite understandable as the map is built via crowdsourced data submitted by users.

No Reviews

The places shown have no option for users to give their review and hence there are zero reviews. This is a dampener as this could have been of great value.

Our final take

The product seems to lose the plot for us as it doesn’t do a single thing that is great. Most of the features are half baked and so is the data. Ideally a map based local search & reviews site is something that might have broken the ice for us. Nonetheless we hope the product evolves with time.

Google Music Search Launches In India – No More Guruji?

Music search was made mainstream by the Indian search engine Guruji.com when it aggregated music across various sources. The difference in Google’s model is that the music is completely legal unlike guruji which ran into trouble.

Google’s attempt is to promote buying legal music by making legal music more accessible.

Challenge for Google Music

Though legal approach is great inorder to be a comprehensive search engine for music Google would need to get several digital rights which wont be simple to acquire. Also a non comprehensive search engine will disappoint users as they wont be able to find their favorite tracks. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to our RSS Feed OR Email Alerts!
