Jamie O’Donnell, SEO-PR, interviews Sally Falkow, PRESSfeed, at SES San Francisco, 2010 on the subject of the new SES social media pressroom. Sally goes on to say that for the past six years companies have been creating online newsrooms and recently have been optimizing the content featured so its ranks higher in a SERP. Because search is evolving with the advent of real-time search, indexing, and other social media content, it’s just as important that everyone can find your content. Bloggers and journalists also want to see what other social media-related content your site might have, including videos, Facebook coverage, twitter coverage and/or YouTube video coverage. More than half of companies today are using some form of social media, according to Sally, but less than 20% of them are actually aggregating any of their content on their site or linking to it or have any strategy to promote it. The SES social media press room can be found at media.searchenginestrategies.com.
